Stickman began at the bench.

In 1994, Scott Yates founded Plankwall, a New Zealand shopfitting and joinery business making display systems for retail interiors. Working with panels every day meant encountering the same practical challenges: aligning corners and edges, protecting them from damage and achieving a precise finish without making fabrication or installation harder than it needed to be.

So Scott developed his own solution.

The first Stickman profiles were created for use in our own workshop. They brought panels together accurately, protected exposed edges and made the join part of the design. What began as a practical answer to an everyday problem grew into a complete system of slimline aluminium corners, edges and join profiles.

Designed for both sides of the drawing.

A detail may begin on an architect’s drawing, but it still has to work at the bench and come together properly on site.

Stickman is designed with both sides of the job in mind. Architects and designers can create consistent, intentional panel detailing across an interior. Joiners and installers get profiles that support alignment, simplify assembly and help deliver a reliable result.

We understand that balance because we have worked on both sides ourselves. The range continues to evolve through real projects and conversations with the people who specify, fabricate and install it.

Stickman is created, designed and extruded in New Zealand, working closely with local aluminium suppliers and extruders.

Today, our profiles are used throughout New Zealand and Australia and exported to the United States, Canada and beyond. Stickman remains part of Plankline Limited: a New Zealand family-owned business supported by a local team with hands-on product and manufacturing knowledge.

When customers need help selecting a profile or working through a detail, they can talk to people who know the system and understand how panels are put together.

A practical approach to materials.

We believe a good solution should work well, last well and make responsible use of materials.

Aluminium is durable, protects vulnerable panel edges from wear and impact, and can be recycled at the end of its useful life. Local production also keeps us close to our suppliers and gives us greater oversight of how the range is made.
